ABOUT

Welcome to the Critical Race Lab

We are a group of scholars working at the intersection of geography and critical race studies at the University of Oregon. The goal of our work is to better understand the nature of white supremacy, its relationships to the economy, environment and landscape, how it has changed over space and time, and how it can be challenged. Members of the lab work on projects related to environmental justice, immigration, houselessness, cultural memory, food studies, Black Studies, Latinx Studies, feminist geography, and settler colonization. Besides our scholarship, we are also committed to creating a supportive intellectual community that not only acknowledges our multiple identities, including as activists and parents, but also imagines an academic culture in which women, people of color, and queer people can flourish. While most members of the Critical Race Lab are housed in the geography department, it also includes members from the department of Indigenous, Race, and Ethnic Studies (IRES).
